student credit card reviews,First Thanksgiving.... Second E.R.visit

I had BIG plans to write this wonderful post about all the things we are thankful for, which is A LOT!! I even made a list (I know, shock right). And I do still intend on doing the post but it will be a little postponed.

This post is instead to update you on the kids First Thanksgiving day and its events...

Starting from the beginning, on Monday, I had to take Brady in to the urologist AGAIN (fourth visit). An area around his "man business" was swelling and getting very firm. It was also pretty red and there was an opening where the suture didn’t heal correctly. They diagnosed it as a suture ganunolma (I can’t spell). Basically, his body didn’t like the suture material that was used and developed an infection around it. It has been over a month since the surgery but it can take this long. So they said there is a 50% chance they will need to do a second surgery (GGGRRRRR) by the end of the year to go in and clean out the area. But MAYBE antibiotics would take care of it. So they gave us omnicef and we were on our way to see if this would kick it. We were PRAYING!

We started the antibiotic Tuesday morning and by Wednesday evening, he had rash and spots all over his body, some the size of nickels. We were out to dinner (for a much needed date night) and Ashley was with them and was the first to see them when giving him his bath. When we got home we checked his temp all night and he had a low grade fever too. We thought it best to wait to see how he was the next morning and opted to stop the Omnicef in case that was what was causing it. Thanksgiving morning when he woke up, rash was worse and his fever was higher. We called his urologist (yes on thanksgiving, we are mean, but he’s my son and I was very worried). He told us to stop the medicine and in a couple days we would try something else and to give him Benadryl every 6 hours. By the end of the day, the rash wasn’t better and the fever was now 101.5. NO GOOD. So we called the on call nurse for our Pedi and she said take him to the emergency room (because it had been 36 hours since the omnicef and it was only getting worse). We also called the urologist back to see what he thought, he said the same thing. Then, Robbie opted to call our pedi's primary nurse ON HER CELL PHONE ON THANKSGIVING. How do I have her cell number you ask, she is a good friend of mine, though the cell number it’s to bother her with my kids problems on holidays!! Sorry Staci, we love you and all you do for us!! (Seriously, we couldn’t live with out her). She told us E.R. as well. SOOOOO off we go. Woke him up after an hour of going down for the night and he and mommy were off on a field trip in the rain... WWWWEEEEEEE.

Mind you the rest of the day was pretty good. We took the kids on a walk in the BEAUTIFUL 70 degree weather (see Moni, Kansas is cold). Brady was a little fussy that day and the day before (which was Christmas picture day so that didn’t help any).

Back to the E.R. now... Luckily there was no one there, we got right in. We arrived about 9:15pm. And of course, my kids won’t sleep ANYWHERE but their cribs or packnplays. So there was no sleeping to be had for Brady the whole time we were there. He was just way over stimulated and he is not a snuggler when sleeping (he is so my child!!). He flirted with all the nurses despite his fever and rosy cheeks and rash. He was center of attention and LOVED IT!!! The doctor was AWESOME and took care of us super quick.

They did a chest X-ray which is another story in itself. There is this strange instrument they use to hold the babies down. I was certain he would scream and the tech said every baby does... and he didn’t make a sound. SO PROUD. But good news, the chest X-ray was good. The reason they did this is because sometimes with medicine reactions it can cause swelling and trouble breathing. But his was great, no issues there.

They did determine by looking at the rash that it was for sure a medicine reaction. I am allergic to most medicines and apparently so is he (again, so my son).

Next, for the fun part, they cathed him to check for kidney or urinary infection. Since he did have an infection at his "man business", they said that it could have swam up the urethra and given him a UTI or kidney infection. He didn’t cry during the first half but he did a little at the second half. But then he REALLY did when they gave him a steroid shot in his leg with a needle the size of my forearm!! This shot helped slow down the reaction and rash from getting worse. Results came back on the cath and sure enough, he has a kidney/UTI infection. So back on another antibiotic (this one he has had before for his surgery but hated) we go. This will also work in clearing his infection that he already had down below.

Seriously, ENOUGH WITH THE "MAN BUSINESS"!!

We arrived home about midnight and yes still no sleeping at this point, but no crying either (except for the shot really). We had him sleep in a packnplay in our room so we could keep an eye on him and he slept HARD. SO DID MOM! Took it out of both of us. Over slept a little this morning, which means all the babies did too. They were taking it easy on poor Brady and me. But his rash looks A TON better. Fever still there but hopefully this antibiotic will knock the infection out ASAP. He is acting much better today, despite being very tired. Playing and eating like normal.

So, HAPPY TURKEY DAY, RIGHT? Robbie's family did make a plate for me and Robbie. He went over and visited at their house briefly and brought back goodies. Thank you Bob and Janet for the food. Very yummy.

We also took our Christmas photos. And of course, Betsy did them. She is AWESOME!!! I will only post one for now, as I am waiting for all to come back and my Christmas card to come back but there are some GREAT individual ones too!! But just a teaser for now :) Although, spoiler alert... she has some more up on her blog if you want to check them out :) And of course random pictures I took.

Hope everyone had a relaxing Thanksgiving and ate A LOT. Will keep you posted on the B man. I am sure he will get over this very soon. Poor baby....

I must run, behind on house stuff, starting Christmas decorating (which is very exciting because it’s my kids first Christmas and I was in the hospital last Christmas so I missed all the decor), wrapping, laundry, returning emails, blah blah blah....

The best part about this photo is Reid is so funny now. If we are taking her photo, she now does this fake smile. It is so funny. Cam, B, Trey, Reid.

Daddy snapping a quick shot with princess (Cam)

"Listen Elmo, don't you even think about touching anything in here, its mine" B giving Elmo the evil eye.

My boys striking a pose.

Apparently, Trey said something just to funny and cracked Brady up. They have been making eachother crack up lately. SO CUTE. I have some video of it i will try to get up next blog.

Three of the four practicing toy stealing, they are all GREAT at it. Brady not pictured because he was climbing all over me because he didnt feel good :(

I really dont sit outside the gate and torment them all the time. I was working on christmas decorations at this moment and Robbie was with them. But i just thought it was so funny, not a toy on the planet can distract them from "What's in that big box?"

Reid dreaming of a day she can go play outside.... Don't worry, im with you on that girlfriend!

Trey and his sweet laugh. Its just to easy with them, he laughs at everything.

Trey in toy heaven

The kids with Ashley. We found our recently she is moving to California. We are so happy for her but so sad at the same time. She is a member of our family and i cant picture our lives with out her. We will still love her from a far!! Web cam baby!
